Fields of Grass Urn, Small
This urn is a perfect pet urn, it will hold up to 4.5” x 4.5” x 4.5” and will hold up to 36 cubic inches.** The original name for this urn was “Pouncing in the Grass” My old dog loved pouncing in the grass after mice and such. Within the next couple of years I changed the name to “Fields of Grass” as I found that many of my customers were purchasing it for a family loved one.
The glaze on this urn reminds me of blades of grass, with its vertical carved lines, and color variations. The color is a very peaceful green, with a a quiet, matt finish. This glaze varies slightly in each kiln firing, sometimes more of the horizontal darker greens show up, sometimes it is more faded. I have shown all the possible variations in the photos here.
I make each urn at the potters wheel. It is then fired in the kiln for 9 hours to harden. I then glaze it with different layers of glaze to achieve the variations you see. The final step is to fire it again in the kiln for 15 hours which allows the glaze to achieve it’s melting point.
I make urns in four sizes, full size, meduim size, small size and petite keepsake. Please check the shop for other sizes available.
All of my pottery is handmade, one piece at a time. All sizes are approximate, meaning they may vary slightly in size… maybe 1/4-1/2″.
** One cubic inch = One pound of live weight.
