20th Annual Asparagus Valley Pottery Trail

Asparagus Valley Pottery Trail: Celebrating 20 years of bringing makers and pottery lovers together.

Join me at my Greenfield, MA studio for our annual event which brings together nationally known potters and pottery lovers from all around to celebrate the beauty and craftsmanship of handmade pottery.

This year the trail will take place on April 27th and 28th, 10-5 both days.

I’ve been making pottery for over 40 years, and there have been many changes along the way. I am currently moving away from using porcelain and white clay for my functional work. This year when you visit the studio, you will see my new work in dark stoneware. I am especially excited about the local clay that I dig from my backyard by the riverbank. I use this clay as a slip to paint on my pottery. The rich, dark slip creates warm, earthy tones and visual surfaces. The patterns that I love in nature are coming through strongly on this new work…. leaves, grasses, flowers and circles.

I will also have work available in white clay with my signature soft green glazes, and subtle patterns. And as always when you visit the studio you can see my line of urns for loved ones.

Along with my work, I am bringing two guest artists/potters together for you to see the many ways similar subjects can be interpreted by three different potters.

My two guest artists this year are Lindsay Rogers from Tennessee and Dallas Wooten from New Jersey. They both bring beautiful nature inspired pottery to the table. Although different, the techniques and imagery that both Lindsay and Dallas use explores edges, and the relationship between figure and ground.

The Pottery Trail is a self guided driving tour, (visit apotterytrail.com to download a map) As you wander through the picturesque landscapes of the Asparagus Valley, you will have the opportunity to visit several pottery studios and meet the potters.

Whether you are a seasoned collector or new to the world of pottery, the Asparagus Valley Pottery Trail has something for everyone. You can browse a wide selection of pottery pieces, from functional dinnerware to decorative vases and sculptures. With such a diverse range of styles and techniques on display, you are sure to find something that speaks to you.

I look forward to seeing new and old pottery friends on the Trail this year!
